Cambodia Gambling Dens
April 14th, 2026 by Iliana

There is a fascinating history to the Cambodia gambling halls that sit just over the dividing line from nearby Thailand, in which casino wagering is not permitted. Eight gambling dens are situated in a generally tiny area in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia casinos is in an excellent spot, a 3 to 4 hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 largest wagering centers in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a huge business with Thai laborers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The amazing capital gained from the casinos ranges from 7.5 million dollars to over twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a few limitations constraints for casino ownership. Ownership is required to be mainly Thai; however, investment sources are vague. The borders are officially open from 0900 to 5:00 p.m., and although visas are for all intents and purposes necessary to cross, there are ways around this, as is correct of most border crossings.

The first Cambodia gambling dens premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were required to close in 1998, leaving only a single gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored ship gambling den, features one hundred and fifty slot machine games and sixty gaming tables. The Naga gambling den is open all day and night with forty two tables of mini-baccarat banque, 4 tables of vingt-et-un, 10 of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The first gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in 1999 and the Golden Crown soon followed. There are one hundred and fifty slots and five table games at the Golden Crown and 104 slots and 68 gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights 300 slot machines and seventy gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machines and 96 table games, including 87 baccarat banque (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machine games and 66 of the familiar gaming tables, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the 8 gambling dens in Poipet, also a part of a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and 97 games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an all-around vacation and hotel complex that highlights numerous conveniences on top of the casino, which contains ten thousand sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty slot machines and 88 table games.
